This is a sorely needed venue in which local and out-of-Rio Grande Valley health institutions, faculty, and students can have hands-on community health best practices that benefit the Rio Grande People and Communities while improving health outcomes and establishing a new culture of good health in South Texas where lifestyle disease, let alone Diabetes is rampant.
The RGV is the Nation’s hardest hit region by lifestyle diseases.
Here, Diabetes and Obesity are rampant, and the statistics have been
Staggering for the past consecutive 5 years.
“In the United States of America, 1 in 12 individuals has diabetes.
Here in the Rio Grande Valley, 1 in 3 individuals has diabetes.”



To help reduce the alarming high rate of Diabetes and its complications namely Retinopathy, Neuropathy, Nephropaty: Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) and End-Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD); and other lifestyle diseases such as High Cholesterol, High Blood Pressure, Stroke, Cardiovascular Disease that are rampant in the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas, across the United States; and that are destroying countless lives around the world today.
